Project Description
A group of close friends is in search of a relaxing weekend getaway away from the big city, only to find a family of carnivorous murderers in a small town where everything seems to be connected.
Weekend Deadaway is an independent horror thriller directed by Clinton J. Phillips that follows a group of friends whose peaceful weekend getaway at a secluded lakeside cabin slowly turns into a nightmare when they discover they are being hunted. Shot on ARRI Alexa cameras with Cooke anamorphic lenses, the film blends classic slasher tension with a naturalistic visual approach that emphasizes atmosphere, shadow, and the isolation of rural landscapes. As cinematographer, Gabriel Chizzotti Jung crafted a visual language that moves between intimate character moments and suspenseful wide environments, using controlled lighting and practical locations to heighten the film’s unsettling tone. The project was filmed across locations in the Midwest and showcases a combination of dramatic storytelling and technical cinematography execution, from forest night scenes to complex in-car and practical rigged shots.
