Project Description

Lex is a down-on-her-luck artist who finds inspiration in a mysterious alien named Dahlia, who has shape-shifted into a human body. Dahlia’s secret motives come to light as Lex unveils the truth while rediscovering her art.

The Last Agent is a Chicago-based sci-fi drama that merges grounded naturalism with surreal visual language. Directed by Drew Billman and Cydia Flowers, the film follows Lex (Maeve Mollaghan) as she encounters Dahlia (Drew Billman), a mysterious alien inhabiting a human form.

Director of Photography Gabriel Jung crafts a visual approach that balances intimate handheld framing with stylized optics, including distorted POV perspectives and shallow depth-of-field close-ups. The cinematography emphasizes natural light, soft diffusion, and textural detail—common techniques sought after in modern indie sci-fi filmmaking—to create a sense of realism disrupted by subtle visual anomalies. The result is a cinematic language that reflects identity, perception, and transformation.
